Computer Infected with Internet Security 2010 Malware

My parents were on the computer and, I'm not quite sure how exactly this happened, they ended up being duped into download Internet Security 2010 and some other worms.

Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of an anti-virus software.

Anti-virus software are programs that detect, cleanse, and erase harmful virus files on a computer, Web server, or network. Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others, including trading partners and thereby spreading infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software can scan the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They can alert the user if a virus is present, and will clean, delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories. Please download a free anti-virus software from one these excellent vendors NOW:

1) Antivir PersonalEdition Classic - Free anti-virus software for Windows. Free support.
2) avast! 4 Home Edition - Anti-virus program for Windows. The home edition is freeware for noncommercial users.
3) AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Free edition of the AVG anti-virus program for Windows.

You should run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and results in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

After that, please post back a fresh HijackThis log.
 
Hi Shaba,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the late response; my internet was down during the weekend.

I downloaded AVG free edition and did a virus scan, and it showed 7 infections which it cleaned.

I noticed upon downloading AVG that the computer began to run really slow after restarting it. After doing the scan/clean, I tried to open up Firefox/IE to post a reply with HJT but the browser would not display any pages, it just was blank.

I decided to restart the computer, and now when I try to log on, it will automatically log me out of the user account before it even has a chance to load it. I tried doing this in safe mode as well, but it is the same thing.

I am currently posting on another computer and am not sure what to do now, thoughts? Thanks for the help.
 
Then please use last known good configuration from startup menu (tap F8 upon startup) and let me know if it helped.
 
No, I don't think I do unfortunately.

I have Microsoft Windows Recovery Console available while the system starts up, but I don't know how to use it/DOS mode. Would that be helpful?

When you see DOS prompt type dir winlogon.exe and hit enter.

Let me know if it found anything.

When you see DOS prompt type cd ServicePackFiles\i386 and hit enter.

Then dir winlogon.exe and hit enter.

OK it is there like it should so missing winlogon.exe isn't causing that.

I think that we do need windows CD as repair installation is the most sensible way here.

Do you have chance to get one?
