First of all, THANK YOU to the "experts" who assist those of us, like myself, who are not as knowledgeable regarding computer systems!
Over the past couple of days I have been at battle with the flashing icon on my toolbar which was a globe with the Windows symbol and a flashing exclamation point. The message read "Critical System Error . . ."
I had updated AdAware, Spybot, Windows Defender and ran those removing items, but none caught, or stopped, the problem.
Reading the other posts in the Malware section of this forum today, I followed the instructions that were posted by others, along with the solutions. I downloaded "Hijack This" and "Smitfraudfix" and followed the instructions listed.
The good news is the problem has now gone, the bad news is I don't know for sure if EVERYTHING is now well!?!?
I hope I haven't goofed up by running the above programs before posting? I have included a "post run" log from these programs and would greatly appreciate anyones assistance in helping me to help myself in making sure I am now clean. I will paste the logs below:
