DVD Decoder

Hi, :red: I have Windows Media Player 11 installed and when I attempt to play a DVD, it told me that I had to DVD decoder, thus I could not play it. However, if I have the program "InterVideo WinDVD" (I only have Version 5, and its outdated) the Media Player works fine. Any advice?

Regards.

I believe it would be helpful to someone attempting to assist you if you posted the exact message that you received.

Revise.

I apologize, what I actually meant (I mistyped the message) was that it told me, I could not play the DVD because I do not have a DVD Decoder".

I don't know much DVD decoders, etc., but the first thing that you have to determine is what format the DVD that you are attempting to play with Media Player 11 is recorded in, then if that format is compatable with Media Player 11 and if you have the proper decoder for that format.

Unless someone else picks up on this thread, I offer the following:

There is some information on decoders for Media Player in the following publication:
Plus there is a myriad of other information available on the internet concerning other decoders.

Bewildered.

However, if I have the program "InterVideo WinDVD" (I only have Version 5, and its outdated) the Media Player works fine.

What I don't understand is that, I have tried the average DVD. Take "Simpsons:The Movie" for example, I have attempted to play that, yet it told me I could not play it. I have downloaded a program from Microsoft's website that would tell me if I had a compatible DVD decoder (to play the DVD's) and its found results were empty.

do you have any program

such as win dvd? if so, you must play it in that program, not windows media player 11. If your looking for a free dvd decoder/player, go to download.com and type in search media player classic. its a free dvd decoder and player that works really well and its completely free. I use it. However, you must play it in the program, not windows media player 11.

Oh. Well, I see. I don't have any uses for playing the DVD at the moment, and I don't want to play a DVD in the outdated WinDVD (vulnerabilities). ^.^ Thank you, I appreciate your help. This log can be dismissed :euro:

Regards.
