Error after update

Im using WIN98, and after clicking update. It looks like it downloads, and then I get an error message saying there was an error and windows needs to shut down.
Contact Vendor if problems persist. And When I click on OK. My Computer locks up.
I have to ReBoot to get out.

Can you give us some more details on this, please? Which Spybot version do you run? Does the external update application get started? Which dialog do you see before the application crashes exactly?
