Error Message on Installing S&D Vers 1.6

Having downloaded version 1.6 when I tried to install it I got an error message.
C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Plugins\TCPIPAddress.dll
An error occured whule trying to replace the existing file:
DeleteFile failed; code 5
Access is denied.

Every time I go for the retry option it comes back.

Opted to abort install as skipping the file is not recommended.

Anyone else encountered this and any ideas on how to resolve it.

I had same problem. I went into C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Plugins and renamed each file with the word backup (i.e. "Backup TCPIPAddress.dll"). That seemed to do the trick.

I had the same problem... I wonder if there could be a fix made to the installation to stop this from happening?

fisc, what is your Operating System?

Do you have any other copies of Spybot prior (or were you using any other versions of Spybot prior to installing) to installing v.1.6?

If so, have you removed it completely?

Hello,

It could be that your previous version of Spybot-S&D is holding the TCPIPAddress.dll file in use while you are attempting to upgrade.

Close Spybot and then hit retry in the setup program, see if that helps.
