Freezing half way thru scan

I've tried scanning maybe half a dozen times but the scan always stops at the exact same point - almost halfway through.

I can do other things with the computer so its only the scan that freezes.

How do I get it to do a full scan?
 
Having read of a similar problem, I tried ticking just one box at a time in Settings/File Sets. The results are:-

MalwareC.sbi Scan stops part way through

PUPS.sbi Closes down Spybot almost straight away

Trojans.sbi Scan stops part way through

TrojansC.sbi Although it eventually said No problems Found, it came up with a host of Access violations. eg.

Error during check!: Banker.abj [8] (Access violation at address 03791B77 in module 'advcheck.dll'. Write of address 00000001) ()

There must be approx 100 of these error messages.

Hope this helps in narrowing down the problem
 
Have you tried running your Anti Virus program and scanning for all files? it just could be that is causing it to freeze, just a thought.
 
I ran BitDefender AntiVirus, AdAware and XoftSpy before I posted - nothing.

Interestingly I turned on the TeaTimer today and couldn't then connect to the internet so I've uninstalled SpyBot. Works again now.

So my problem, in a way, no longer exists.

I've got a 2.4G Dual Core with 1G RAM. Was running 1.4 Spybot.

Thanks for links - first has FIVE pages! lol.

I'll give it a go and see if it overcomes the problem.
