Google Redirect Virus

Good evening,

I have Spybot and Adware already installed on my computer.

Right now I'm experiencing a virus that redirects my google result links which sends me to another page of its choosing.

Spybot Search & Destroy keeps finding these things, and claims to erase them, but if you scan moments later they're back again. They are:

Advertising.com
Avenue A., Inc
Doubleclick
MediaPlex
Pipas.A
Web Trends Live

I do run Avast Anti-Virus and it does update regularly.

I saw this topic has already been discuessed and is now acchived, but I figured I needed to post results in order to have my situation evaluated by one of you fine folks.

Could anyone assist me in gettin this trouble off my machine? A million thanks in advance.

Regards,

Brian

Hi flyinblyian

Use this link to get HijackThis.
Save it to your desktop and then double-click to run it.
It will install the program in c:\program files\HijackThis.
Browse to that location with windows explorer, and double click on the HijackThis.exe program to run. Choose the 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'
That will allow you to save the log to the desktop (or some other place) and leave open a notepad file with the HijackThis log in it.

Now post your HijackThis log into this topic.

Hi

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

  • Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure Run fixit is checked and click Finish.
  • The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
  • You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
  • Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
  • Once the desktop loads, post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

Goole redirect virus

Hi Shaba,

Installed and ran Fixwareout successfully. When I rebooted, it didn't produce a report.txt on my desktop? (tried it a few times) I looked in Explorer at the Fixwareout folder and found what looked like the report.txt, but was unable to open it. It gave me a message saying "Cannot find the file 'C:\fixwareout\report.txt' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required are available." I also get the same message when I attempt to open the "hijackthis" log file that I have already sent you. Good news-Goggle has not redirected me once since I ran Fixwareout program, and none of the problem entires (the ones I enclosed in the initial post) show up when I run the Spybot S & D program. Let me know what you think. Thanks for all your assistance!!

Regards,

Brian

Hi

Try to rename those files or open them in safe mode; we'll need those reports anyway.
