To jog everyone's memory....when you installed or upgraded to Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.....it automatically detected Spybot and removed it. :police:

Note:
Without even asking for permission and (most likely) did not use the small un-installation tool (that I can't find anymore) :red:

My question:

Has version 1.6.2 solved this issue withKaspersky's arrogance, please?

I'd like to be able to run this program again.

Groucho :)

groucho:

Isn't that a question that could be best answered by Kaspersky since they are the ones claiming that Spybot is incompatible with their product?

You might as well ask Kaspersky themselves, since they are so hyped about it.

A bypass I found was to install Spybot-Search&Destroy after KAS has been installed.

It used to be....only within the past couple of years that this arrogance on the part of Kaspersky Internet Security started occuring.

You can still use both...but Spybot has never found the things that it did before when you "unticked" some item (can't remember which one) in Advanced Mode.

That work-around might have been in the link in the thread starter.

I like the idea of installing Spybot after.
That might work....or Kaspersky (KIS 2009) will start it's normal whining about conflicting Programs.

I'll give that a spin this weekend and post back if I get the usual Conflicting programs message....Comrades.

Thanks for the replies and I'll be baaaaacck wth the results for the benefiit of other KIS 2009 users!

Funny thing, because I find this on Norton, Kaspersky, McAfee, and Trend Micro.

In the link that groucho gave, I found a comparison table on another tab. This happens on the commercial companies like the ones I listed above: They spit in a several sections of protection and only their product covers all of them while others like McAfee and Trend Micro do not. Not only that but they test KIS 2009 against a 2008 model of other security suites. Not quite fair because there's a full year gap of updates and improvements.

And four suites team up to (I think it started with Norton and then the other companies followed) pick on Spybot deeming as "incompatible" (False) and yet each one still claims to be 'better' than the other with the comparison table. Ironic if you ask me.
