Talvis,

Thanks for the nice comments :bigthumb:

Just want to get on the soap box if I may. Years ago when the internet was new, kids wrote most of the viruses, it put a feather in the cap if they infected you and the virus made your screen wobble or some other stupid thing, Well, those days are over. Malware and Viruses are written by thieves and there only goal is to exploit you, steal anything they can from you , in the process of doing that, if it borks your computer they could care less. Its become big business to infect you, most of, but not all of the garbage comes from the RBN ( Russian Bussiness Network ) Google it and read about them for yourself. The threats going around today can immobilize your computer, they can steal all your passwords, including the ones for online banking, they can steal your credit card numbers and purchase things with your card. Some threats are so bad that the only recourse is to reformat your hard drive and do a clean install of windows, not a lot of fun. Having a Antivirus program , a Firewall and a few Anti Spyware programs install are must haves along with keeping your Operating System up to date with the latest patches and updates, but this garbage can still sneak in, the weakest link in the chain is you, if you practice unsafe surfing habits, you can get whacked. File Sharing programs themselves are safe, but the files you want to download may not be. Opening up Spam email , especially there attachments can get you in trouble.......jus my 2 cents

Malware Complaints
Are you mad ? I mean really mad, seething mad, so mad your ready to spit, mad that you have taken your hard earned dollars to buy a computer only to have some Miscredents, Dirt Bags and Cyber Criminals install a malicious program on your computer without your knowledge or consent. You can post your complaint at the above site. If you live in the U.S.A. you can also report your grievance to your State Attorney Generals Office and the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Here are some free programs to install, these are must haves and all free to help keep you secure
  • Spybot Search and Destroy 1.5
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
  • Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give
you the option to deny the change.
  • IE-Spyad
IE-Spyad places 1000s of web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
(cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Firefox 2.0 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
  • Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs,

Glad we could help

Safe Surfn
Ken
