help

Hello Phil. Well there is a problem when I'm shutting down,it's the SVCHOST.exe application error, it just makes the screen freeze I can come back to screen after an hour and it;s still at the same spot,I hit the restart button and do a quick shutdown see item 14.

Gday Phil.another problem now on startup ===MSASCui.exe..application error
applcation failed to initialize properly ( 0xc0000005 ). click on OK to terminate the application.what does this mean, hasthis application from the same family as SVCHOST.exe as I'm getting on shut down. Thanks to you I'm getting gamer at pushing the keyboard . Ed.

G'Day Edd, all I could suggest is that you delete all of the HJT junk, once you know it is all gone, then use this link, it will self install in C:\Program Files\ and I believe it even adds a shortcut to the Desktop?
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/download/file/self-extracting-hijack-this-installer

Lot's of information about the error message, remember to use Google, http://www.google.com/ not much information available that Google does not have. I would look at the Microsoft information first:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927385 and then move on to the Google if need be.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...e+memory+could+not+be+read&btnG=Google+Search

Just be careful and take your time as you try the workarounds (Australian word? like walkabout?...lol)

Another tool that will often correct issues with the computer when a corrupt or missing file is involved is System File Checker: http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
Here is a list of some tools available to you: http://www.networkclue.com/os/Windows/commands/index.aspx

Cheers

Just looked at your new error message and I can see it is not word for word and it is miss spelled. You make sure it is 100% correct, then enter it into Google. I have a notion the infomation I provided will deal with both, but still search to see what information is available.

Hi Phil...not sure what you mean--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

G'Day Edd, all I could suggest is that you delete all of the HJT junk, once you know it is all gone, then use this link, it will self install in C:\Program Files\ and I believe it even adds a shortcut to the Desktop?
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/downloa...this-installer.

Do I uninstall the hjt program, and then go to the link you gave,--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

which error message is miss spelled, how do I copy & paste from the desktop into this thread.
Ed

Edd, since you are having problems removing one version of HJT and we do not want two running on the computer, YES, delete them both and and download the new version from the link i provided (not the one you copied, it will not work) (truncicated I think is the word?)

Do I uninstall the hjt program, and then go to the link you gave
It's not really and uninstall, since there is no uninstaller, just delete the folder, everything will go with it to the recycle bin.

MSASCui.exe..application error
applcation failed to initialize properly ( 0xc0000005 ). <<< at least one word is mispelled, if you cannot copy/paste the information to Google, then you need to be 100% sure you type it exactly as it is presented to you.

Thanks

I want to mention that HJT is not an issue just now, since you do not even need it. I would concentrate on finding out why you are getting the error message.

Gday Phil,,sorry could not get back to you last night ( my time ),my control panel would not open by that time I had enough and hit the sack, pick and shovel is easier to work with lol,

MSASCui.exe. Application Error.
The application failed to initialize properly ( 0xc0000005 ).click on ok to terminate the application.

we are now running at a good speed , I did'nt think a missing ( I ) would be so critical now it written word for word  .

Phil I can't thank you enough for the time you have given me in this matter I have learnt a lot through this,I guess the hic-up I have now has nothing to do with virus but a programing problem.

cheers Ed.

There is little doubt that Windows Defender is the application the error is coming from. What I would try first is to look here:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=windows+defender+updates&btnG=Search
for answers, make sure you have the newest version and you are totally updated.
Then see if the error stops. If it does not, then uninstall the program and download it again from here:
