Update:

I ran Spybot S&D and fixed 115 problems but I'm still having the same issues.

I thought it was possible that the first HJT logfile picked up some of the things that I had fixed when I ran S&D so I created a new logfile:

When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

  • Please download F-Secure Blacklight (fsbl.exe) from here
  • Save into C:\ with a name of fsbl.exe
  • Go to Start > Run
  • Copy and paste the contents of the below codebox into the run box
    Code:
    C:\fsbl.exe /expert
  • Click OK
  • This will launch BlackLight
  • Select I accept the agreement
  • Click Next
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Click on Next>
  • Click Exit
  • A logfile will have been created in the C:\ drive
  • It will be named fsbl-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.log where xxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the date and time of the scan
  • Use notepad to open that log
  • Post the contents of that log as a reply to this topic

Post back with the smitfraudfix log, the Blackight log and a new HijackThis log

Finished!

I did everything up to the point where i had to start deleting these files:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\winntify.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\printer.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinAvXX.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hadjajr.ini

I found and deleted all of them except for the vtr.dll file, which i was unable to find, and winntify.exe; which i was able to find but i was given an error message when i tried to delete it:

"Cannot delete winntify: Access is denied.

Make sure that the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use."

So next i went to the task manger and tried to end the winntify.exe process but i was given an "access is denied" error message on that too.

What should I do now?

Also, thanks again and i apologize that i was gone for a few weeks. i had posted the hjt logfile right before i went on vacation.

Copy the contents of the following codebox to a notepad window

Code:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\authorizedapplications\list]
"%windir%\\system32\\winav.exe"=-
"C:\\WINDOWS\\svchost.exe"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\domainprofile\authorizedapplications\list]
"%windir%\\system32\\winav.exe"=-

Save it to the desktop as fix2.reg, making sure save as type is set to all files

Locate Fix2.reg on your desktop and double-click it. When asked if you want to merge with the registry, click YES. Wait for the merged successfully prompt

Go here to run an online scannner from ESET.
  • Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  • Click Start
  • When asked, allow the activex control to install
  • Click Start
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic, along with a new HijackThis log, and a description of any remaining problems.

i can't seem to get online. so far i've been downloading whatever programs and code and such onto a thumb drive to transfer from another computer. i was able to merge the fix2 though. nothing seemed different after.

and for some reason, there are alot of things that are disabled on my primary windows account such as the task manager, merging registry (whatever it was that the fix2.reg was supposed to do) and a few other things. it says these things have been disabled by administrator. (i was able to merge fix2 on the guest account)

so to try and fix this i logged on the admin account through safe mode to try and fix the access restrictions. i got an error message on here too saying, "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

Any idea how to get me back on the internet? or another way to scan? and what do you mean when you say, "save as type is set to all files" in regards to the fix2.reg?

thanks

and what do you mean when you say, "save as type is set to all files" in regards to the fix2.reg?

In the notepad save dialog, under the place where you type the file name, there is a box labeled Save as type and this must be set to All Files

Download WinsockFix from here & transfer it to the affected PC:

http://downloads.subratam.org/WinsockFix.zip

Unzip it, doubleclick WinsockFix.exe to run it & then click Fix

Restart your PC and then see if you can access the internet

Also, please post a new HijackThis log

still not getting online; i tried the wireless and it didn't work. (but i've had unrelated problems with that before) and it doesn't recognize a lan cable.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

for some reason, i can only scan 526078084 and 37808937 and they both come up clean. i've been copying the files to my flash drive and transferring them to a different computer (i can't access the internet on the infected computer) and when i copy the other files, they dissapear from my flash drive after plugging it in to the uninfected computer. sometimes they will be there for long enough for me to attempt to upload them to virustotal, but then they don't load and virustotal gives me the message, "0 bytes size received / Se ha recibido un archivo vacio"

here are the outputs from 526078084 and 37808937:

SmithFraud report in next post.

When i was running smithfraud, i kept having an error message pop up that says, "registry editing blocked by administrator." I don't get it; i'm on the admin acccount and it seems like all the admin privelages have been blocked. i thought this might be relevant.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Below is the smithfraud rapport.txt. During the cleaning, it kept popping up error messages reminding me "registry editing has been disabled by the administartor." that must have popped up 10 times while this was going on.

it doesn't seem to be popping up with the message in the corner telling me to check for viruses and that i have 2398 infections or whatever it was doing when i first got this trojan, but i still don't have admin privelages on my admin account and i can't get online. what's going on with that?

here's the report:
