How can I remove SS+D from context menu?

I have WinXP. Whenever I right click on a file or on Recycle Bin, the context menu includes an item "Scan Using Spybot Search & Destroy." I do not want this item in any of my context menus. I did not choose to have it there, and I prefer to have control of settings such as this.

How do I resolve this issue? If I can't presently control this, can the option be added to future versions of SS+D?

Thank you.

ajk1962f:

The right click context menu feature "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" is an option during installation which is checked by default. Once installed there is no option within Spybot itself to uninstall it.

However, if you would like to eliminate the "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" right click context menu option from the context menu without uninstalling and reinstalling Spybot, see this post by Zer0 Voltage in:

drragostea,

Thanks, but as I just replied there, I know nothing about working with the registry and am looking for step-by-step instructions on how to make this change.

ajk1962f:

To disable the "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" context menu feature:
  • Download the Enable+Disable Spybot-S&D Context Menu Entry.zip file. The zip file The zip file contains the following files:
    • Disable Spybot-S&D Context Menu Entry.reg
    • Enable Spybot-S&D Context Menu Entry.reg
  • Unzip (extract) the contents of the file to a known location.
  • Double click on the extracted "Disable Spybot-S&D Context Menu Entry.reg" file.
  • Answer "Yes" then "OK".

md usa,

Thanks, that information helps.

I'll advise as to what happens as soon as I have a chance to try it.
