How do I uninstall Monetomi?

I recently discovered that I have Monetomi on my computer. There seems to be limited information about this program, except to say that it is Mal/Adware. I found uninstall info athttp://www.fixyourbrowser.com/tag/monetomi/, however, I thought Spybot should be able to detect and help remove it instead of the list of programs listed on this site. Has anyone heard of this? I'm reluctant to use the Windows 7 uninstall function in case it is designed to download more Malware.

I've run Spybot already and it didn't seem to detect it - thoughts?

Hello Ragana5,

Yes best not to try "fixes' from unknown places. :)

This file appears to be comparatively new: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...8a97f0adfd370f678d6382e9c2b471f34df/analysis/

Please list:

Version of Spybot

Other security programs installed
Any other issues with the computer's performance

Using Windows to uninstall it shouldn't allow the program to download malware. Are you seeing this program as an add on in your browser?

Best regards.

Thanks for the reply - I have version 2.1.21.0 of Spybot. I think Monetomi may have snuck in with the Delta Toolbar. I've run Spybot and it's removed all but one file from Delta toolbar.

Yes, I saw Monetomi as an extension in Chrome and Firefox, and removed both (though I'm pretty sure they'll be back...how exciting to be an early adopter of new malware >:( ).

I have Norton Security Suite and Constant Guard on my computer. Do you think it is safe for me to run an uninstall through Windows 7 on Monetomi?

Thanks VERY MUCH for the help!

Hi Ragana5,

If you have any qualms about trying to uninstall it you could ask for assistance again in the Malware Removal Forum :)

To do so first see that forum's FAQ which also includes instructions in post #2 on how to provide DDS and aswMBR logs, which are used in the preliminary analysis.

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288

Then someone can take a look at the system and offer guidance so you have peace of mind.

Best regards.
