Is Windows Corrupted?

I started doing the finishing off bits which you have documented in your last post. I started running another AVG Spywear...scan too.....and guess what it found! ....the Zlob downloader trojan again!!!!!! (as 'Anita'). I accidently cleared the scan without deleting it...and do not have time...until tomorrow night to re-do the scan. To be very honest I am disappointed to see that AVG has detected it again. I have been on normal reputable websites tonight and not downloaded anything unsavoury (apart from the new java stuff you mentioned in your last post). Mcafee keeps trying to block several adware programmes...I have a copy of teh log if that helps you at all?

What should I do now? Tomorrow night I can re-run AVG-Spywear. I am a little frustrated with Mcafee as I have paid £30.00 sterling and it has not detected it! I also paid 19.00 dollars for spy hunter and I'm unsure if I should keep it as spy bot search and destroy ....picks it out as malware!.
Would you advise that I get rid of Mcafee....and get all the above programmes and AVG antivirus instead?


If you want, I can post a copy of the scan results tomorrow night. Unfortunately I do not have time tonight to do a full scan. As it stands am I safe to do online banking ....if AVG spywear is detectimg this zlob downloader still?:sad:

Well that might not be that bad at all, propably just some leftover. But I can't say for sure without the logs...Please post the log to here when you've scanned.

Well SpyHunter has a little suspicious reputation. You can read more from here.
I personally wouldn't use it but you've already paid for it...

And if you have paid for McAfee I would use it to the end of subscription. Otherwise it would be a waste of money :) But if you wan't, you may of course replace it with free alternatives (firewall & antivirus):

I deleted the files. I will re-run AVG tomorrow to see if its clear. I have put the folder options so that the computer can see hidden files.

NOTE: If you're using Windows XP firewall, I recommend that you install a better firewall. Windows firewall doesn't really provide enough protection.

I have downloaded AVG Anti Spywear and Any-virus Protection. I have returned Mcafee. ....and got a refund. I will do the additional bits you recommended too for my desktop. Please can you double check this last hi jack file....to check everything is ok?If it is....can you also look at my lap top too?

Hi, Well I'm very glad its clean. Can I get rid of the above entries from my last hijacked file? I downloaded zone alarm but it asked me to do a spywear scan and it picked up 'media pass malware' (which AVG spywear did not). It then re-directs you asking you pay for their version of anti spywear package.....which to be honest I do not want to do as I did not know whether (like Spyhunter) its a scam to part with more cash!.

Anyway all I want to do now before this thread is closed is know if I can delete the above entries?

If you use MSN Messenger, don't fix this with HijackThis:

HijackThis says it is missing but it isn't.
