Hi all

Sorry if this is somewhere else, but i havent been able to find it.

Just wondering if there is a msi installer for the newest build of 1.5 [i.e. 1.5.1.x] as I got the msi from the same location as i got the normal exe version, but its only version 1.5.0.0

Also, is there a list of command line options for the 1.5 exe and also, is there a list of custom command line options for the msi?

Many thanks.
Nath.

Hi PepiMK :)

Thanks for the info.

The msi i tried was the one at that link  I couldnt find the msi linked anywhere posted, so had to guess at it ;)

Worked fine for me though :)

Just liked how 1.5.1 [is 1.5.1 = RC1 then?] looked etc. Hope you can get time to make a msi version of 1.5.1. If there's anything i can do there, then I'd be happy to help :)

Cheers
Nath.

Thanks for updating the msi - i may have downloaded it just before you updated it. I just downloaded it now and its 1.5.1.14 so many thanks.

Works well so far :)

Cheers,
Nath

Yep, I updated it around the time I posted it ;)

1.5.1.14 = RC 1. The .14 is the number describing this RC. It's 1.5.1 instead of 1.5.0 because 1.5.0 was an internal state about Vista compatibility only, and there were things afterwards that made it worth another digit behind the second point ;)

What we really have to test (but no one can help there right now) is updates between different MSIs, trying out MSPs (updates as patch files) etc..

hehe yep... i understand ;) :)

Should be able to help test MSP's if you need it.

Are you refering to deploying msi's via GP or just in a normal install sense? And whether they upgrade a older version [or not hehe]

Feel free to grab me on MSN if you want to talk about it "off" the forum :)

Forgot to mention, like the new updater app... handles proxies better i think too - unless its my imagination lol [which it could well be ;)]

Regards
Nath

it would be nice if the Spybot MSI installer was also available, especially for Vista users. many Vista-ready apps, including the newly released Ad-Aware 2007 version 7.0.2.1 (which is NOW fully compatible with Vista) uses Windows Installer to install programs. even the latest versions of the Nero cd burning software use MSI. MSI installers have the option of repairing programs with missing or corrupted files which is a definite plus for MSI packages (and that "repair" feature is not found in InnoSetup packages).

Well, personally I hate MSI installers. I just can't stand it when an uninstaller of a larger package needs half an hour when other installers do the same thing in under a minute. What good does a repair function if it takes ten times as long as an uninstall + reinstall? ;)
(one of the worst examples is CodeGears Delphi, where the service pack installation of the 2007 version is said to take hours up to a full day/night if I remember correctly).

Anyway, as I posted before, we're following the Certified for Vista guidelines up to the point where they get dangerous for security software, and msi is a part that's easily fulfilled. Won't be available the same day as the final though, would need to discuss it with the mirrors first (and the website might need some adjustment depending on how this would be made available).

Is there any further news on an updated msi installer.

I've had a go at making one myself but ran into UAC issues.

I'd also like to know if there are any plans to have some sort of kit for creating transforms to customise the install eg Teatimer on/off
