Launch time

My OS is Win XP Pro SP3, Browser Firefox 3.0.11 and Spybot 1.6.2

Spybot is taking anywhere from 1 minute to 4 minutes to launch whether I click on the quick launch bar or start/all programs.

My computer is clean.

Have you any ideas please.

You may have a rather old PC with few RAM. I have seen such launch times on a P4 2GHz with 256 MB of RAM. Adding more RAM improved significantly the launch time. On new systems it takes a bit less than 10 secs.

My computer is only 6 months old and has 2.20 gigahertz Intel Pentium Dual with 2GB Ram.

Joe, your machine is still pretty "new", equipped with a lot of resources.

Does Spybot-Search&Destroy start any faster in Windows Safe Mode?
I would like you to download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. It should clear out your Temp. files, and your browser cookies and cache.

Downloaded Atribune. Cleared my temp files etc. Result....Spybot launches in 5 secs. Many thanks for your help. It is very much appreciated.
