lockdown registry feature, more advantages than problems?

In last free spybot, the lockdown registry feature:

A) is really effective?, intruders and malware do not yet know how to handle it?
B) cannot give any problem, like rendering impossible necessary registry changes when downloading windows updates or new programs , changing preferences or settings or other?
C) Can I be easily undone by the pc administrator (and not by malware or intruders)? how?
D) does it operate thru changing the value in the registry to make unable the regedit tool? if so, how can regedit be enabled again?

This is kind of embarrassing, but I'm not sure what the lockdown registry feature is.I don't remember it,and can't find anything listed about it.
Was it a feature in Spybot 1.6.2,or is it something I've missed in the newer Spybot(s)? :)

In practice I saw this ona video on youtube about spybot, I am not certain the feature is available, as I fear compatibility problems with windows 8.1

Just saw your thread below this one:

The version I linked to above is the same version you have.

This is Microsoft's suggestions for compatibility problems:

Note the warning at the top:
Warning

Don’t run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter on antivirus programs, firewall software, backup software, disk utilities, or on system programs that came with Windows. This might cause data loss or create a security risk.
Spybot 2.2 free is an antimalware program, but still might be good to use some caution.

This is the contact form for Spybot support. You might like to contact them and ask them about sdwelcome.exe compatibility, since I'm unsure about it.That's probably your best bet. :)
