Hi, my computer is infected with many adwares and malwares. It started when I realized that my computer somehow downloaded a program called Command Service and I get receiving pop ads. Later on, I realized that my computer also downloads applications into my desktop without my permission and opening up different applications at the start up menu like spybot. Also I have problems opening my web browser, because my computer would exit them out. I have taken the following measures to fix these problems:
1. I tried running both Spybot 1.5 and AVG Anti-Spyware version 7.5, with the latest updates, many times including in safe mode, but the problems would not go away.
2. I was not able to access Kaspersky Online Scanner, but I have my own anti-virus program called Symantec Antivirus and with the latest updates, it detected no problems.
3. I already downloaded the program Vundo Fix and performed the actions of the program.
4. I downloaded the program HiTackThis.
The problem AVG Anti-Spyware also detected the following problems:
1. Downloader.small.buy
2. Trojan.small
3. Adware: CommAD
4. Downloader.Agent cbx
5. Hijacker.StartPage
6. Downloader.Purity Scan.exe
7. Downloader.Tiny.id

Thanks in advance for any help you could give me.

Welcome to Safer Networking.

Please read Before You Post

You do have some issues we need to fix.

We need to disable the Tea Timer in Spybot Search and Destroy as to not interfere with the fix.
  • Open Spybot and go to Mode> Advanced Mode> Tools> Resident and take the checkmark out of Tea Timer

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Download: DelDomains and save it to the desktop.
  • Close all open windows and your browser
  • Right Click DelDomains.inf and select > Install
  • Reboot your computer

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up

I need to see the Combofix log and a New HJT log please

We are making some headway, still some more to do. FYI, you are infected with the Vundo Trojan and the thieves that have written this trojan have written it to evade a HJT scan and by renaming it to something else if your infected with Vundo it will show up on your log , and it did

Go to your Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall Viewpoint Manager Service, its not malicious but installs without your knowledge or consent , uses system resources and is not needed for anything.

Download VundoFix to your desktop

  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

You also had markers in your log for Smitfraud so lets run this program and see if you are infected with this trojan also.
Please download SmitfraudFix
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

I need to see the Vundo log, the Smitfraud log and a New HJT log. There are also some other entries in your log not related to the above two trojans and we will deal with them after these two are gone.

VundoFIX

I wanted to tell you that I downloaded VundoFIX before I started this thread and I already removed the Vundo from my previous scan. So this time when I redownloaded VundoFix.exe and used the program, it found nothing this time around.

Here is the contents from of C:/vundofix.txt:

Copy the entire contents inside the Quote box and Paste it into Notepad ( this will only work with Notepad ) name the file Regfix.reg and in the drop down box, save it as All Files. Save it to your desktop. Then Rightclick on the Regfix.reg file and click on Merge, when it asks you to merge with the Registry, say yes.

Post a New HJT log please

Let me see the Avenger report, the SAS report and a New HJT log please.

I have a problem.

After the last time, I performed your instructions. I shut down my computer. Now, it seems that I cannot get to the login page without having the message:

Isass.exe - System Error
Object name not found.

I run it at safe mode and I still cannot get to my login page without the computer keeping restarting over and over. Please give me advice on what to do.

Thanks.

Try starting your computer by pressing the F8 key and when the menu comes up, use the up and down arrows to scroll to Last Known Good Hit enter

Avenger's Report

Hi, I followed your advice and use the "Last Known Good" and it works. Thanks again. Before I forget, after I used the Avenger's program, I then used Hijackthis and done a system scan only. I found all of the entries except for:

  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    javaicon.jpg

    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 2 <--This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

The rest of your log looks fine, Did you post the entire SAS log?? How are things running how??

SAS Log

 You're right I did not post the entire SAS Log. Everything is running smoothly now. The AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 does not even detect the malwares now :bigthumb:. The pop ups stop and my computer runs faster now. Just in case I will give you the complete SAS Log from before and the new Hijackthis log after I installed the newer Java. Could you also give me a list of recommendations in order to keep my computer safe from malwares and adwares?

Here is the SAS Log:
