Hi DeeDee12

Your log now appears to be clean. Congratulations! :yahoo:

To remove all of the tools we used and the files and folders they created do the following:

Delete RootRepeal and SecurityCheck from your desktop.

Download OTC by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

  • Double-click OTC.exe
  • Click the CleanUp! button
  • Select Yes when the Begin cleanup Process? Prompt appears
  • If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes
  • The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTC attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

MBAM can be uninstalled via control panel add/remove but it may be a useful tool to keep ......Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Scanning Guide.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Disable and Enable System Restore-WINDOWS XP
This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

Turn off System Restore
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Reboot.
Turn ON System Restore
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.
Secunia Software Inspector
F-secure Health Check

Visit Microsoft often to get the latest updates for your computer.
http://www.update.microsoft.com

Here are some things that I think are worth having a look at if you don't already know a bout them:.

Spybot Search and Destroy
Download it from here. Just choose a mirror and off you go.
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spybot properly here

SpyWare Blaster
Download it from here
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spyware Blaster here

WinPatrol
Download it from here
Here you can find information about how WinPatrol works here

FireTrust SiteHound
You can find information and download it from here

MVPS Hosts File from here
The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
Find Tutorial here : http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Please check out Tony Klein's article "How did I get infected in the first place?"

Read some information here how to prevent Malware.

I'd be grateful if you could reply to this post so that I know you have read it and, if you've no other questions, the thread can be closed.

Happy safe surfing! :bigthumb:

Thank you so very much!!!!

You are awesome!!!!!
Thought I would have have to run another log for you....
Ok I deleted the SecurityCheck...I did not download the RootRepeal because I finally was able to get GMER to run in safe-mode..Downloaded OTC and ran it for the CleanUp.....MBAM I already had and will keep and the same with Spybot Search and Destroy..I also have Spyware Blaster....I disabled and re-enabled the system restore as you said....The AVG is suppose to do an auto-update everyday but I dont see the icon for AVG in the tray anymore...I dont know what happen to it......I will go to one of the sites you suggested to have computer checked for any needed updates....The other items you suggested I will get right on in the morning as it is 2:30 a.m. here..lol..lol....ie WinPatrol, FireTrust, MVPS Hosts File and to reread Tony Klein's article and go to the site you suggested on how to prevent Malware...
Can I remove the GMER and Check-up logs or should I keep them?...Any ideas on how I can find my tray icon for the AVG?...One other question...Is there anywhere I can check my startup on my computer so I dont have things that I really dont need starting when I first turn my computer on?...I will check back a little later for your answer as I can hardly keep my eyes open...Thanks again.I dont know what I would have done without you and this site..You all are number one with me..Be truly blessed my friend..you and all those working here deserve nothing but the best...Good night...

Hi DeeDee12
Can I remove the GMER and Check-up logs or should I keep them
yes you can delete them

Maybe the AVG icon is being hidden. Go here to check:

Right click on the Taskbar, select Properties and then in the Taskbar tab select Customize.

See if the AVG icon is present in 'Current Items' and if so, modify its 'Behaviour'.
Is there anywhere I can check my startup on my computer so I dont have things that I really dont need starting when I first turn my computer on?

You may wish to try StartupLite. Simply download this tool to your desktop and run it. It will explain any optional auto-start programs on your system, and offer the option to stop these programs from starting at startup. This will result in fewer programs running when you boot your system, and should improve preformance.

Hello...

Ok..I ran F-Secure Health and it said only my RealPlayer need to be updated....I ran the Secunia and it told me that my Adobe FlashPlayer needed updating and it gave a link for the update...I clicked on the update link and the download did not work so I went to the Adobe site and got the update from there..I went back to Secunia afterwards and re-ran the check and it still said my FlashPlayer was outdated... ......I deleted the SpywareBlaster that was on the computer and did a new install.....I read WinPatrol and it seemed a bit to confusing for me..lol..lol...I then went to FireTrust Sitehound and found it more to my liking but could not download because they are updating it....
....I then downloaded MVPS Hosts File and unzipped it..(think I did that right)..opened the folder for it but I dont think it downloaded to my computer..I dont see an icon for it just the zipfile....how to I tell if it's really there and working?......I re-read Tony's article and the info site you suggested....Thanks for everything.....Question..should I empty the virus vault in my AVG?..also I have CCleaner and ATF cleaner installed on my computer should I use these each time I am finished with the internet daily?..Sorry for asking so many questions and taking up so much of your time but even though I have had a computer for a long time I am still not that computer literate.....I am now going to checkout StartupLite as you suggested..Thanks for all your help.... :bighug:

Hi DeeDee12
I dont see an icon for it just the zipfile....how to I tell if it's really there and working?
To use: double-click on mvps.bat
should I empty the virus vault in my AVG?
Yes
I have CCleaner and ATF cleaner installed on my computer should I use these each time I am finished with the internet daily
It is not necessary to use both every day,I personally use ATF cleaner two or three times a week

Thanks peku006
