RIP Chain

Still There? Haven't heard from you. Hope you are well. Any advice on auto updates? I've tried checking as much as I could guess.

Hello kevponce,

I'm sorry for the delay in replying to you, my personal life has taken a turn for the busier side lately, let's try this option real quick:

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis.

Boot into Safe Mode:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Try messing with the settings here, it could be a protection program was interferring with your abillity to mess with those settings in normal mode.

Then just reboot your computer into normal mode and let me know if that helped any.

No Luck

Dear RIP Chain

Thanks for all of your hjelp and if there is anything further you think of that resolves issue let me know.

Hello kevponce,

I apologize, I should have been more specific on what you should do once in safe mode. Let's try the following:

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

Boot into Safe Mode:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
5) Select your normal user account, not the one that says "administrator".

When your computer has finished loading into safe mode, please click on your start button and then select "Control Panel" then select the "Performance and Maintenance" option, then at the bottom click on the "System" icon. Then a "System properties" tab should come up, click on the "Automatic Updates" tab and make sure the "Automatic (recommended)" option is marked, then click "Ok."

Then reboot into normal mode and let me know if that worked for you :)
