Hi,
I've read a couple of the malware posts and have followed instructions for removing things with hijackthis. Then I scanned with spybot and looked in the advanced section. After my spybot first scan, I saved the log then did a search.com search for definitions of each of the items found so I wouldn't kill something that I really needed. One of the things I tried to kill was MSMSGS.exe because I don't use any messaging - period! However, I keep getting spybot's box that says that MSMSGS can't be removed. I get a large box (which I don't understand what it expects me to do)
followed by a small popup saying it again
after I click on the larger boxes "x" to close it. I copied spybot's log with this message
.
How can I either kill MSMSGS for good, or stop the spybot warnings regarding the inability to remove it from my registry?
I also get this when spybot does a scan.
So far I haven't done anything with it - but I did print the contents and got this (as saving the log wasn't an option)
Is this stuff "nasties"? If so, can I kill this file without screwing up my Anti Virus Protection?
On the good side - things are running faster and my CPU usage is way down - Thank YOu!
