need help! missing all desktop icons

so i ran my first Spybot scan, restarted my pc, and all i have now is my background, i cannot recover any desktop icons, start button, etc- everything is either hidden or missing! please help!!!

i updated Spybot s&d and my desktop icons are back- no thanks to anyone here......:red:
