Need help to get rid of spyware ads

Hi

Logs look good.

Is both Norton and AVG up-to-date? If so, you should uninstall AVG, only one active antivirus/computer.

How are things running now.

Things seem to be good now. Thanks for all your thorough help. I think that just AVG is up to date. If so, then I'll go ahead and uninstall Norton.

Thanks again,
Greatly appreciated,

Hi

If AVG is up-to-date, then you should also add a firewall (AVG free doesn't have one).

Download another firewall before uninstalling norton and disconnect network cable during whole process.

Follow these instructions to uninstall Norton

After that:

As the term conveys, a firewall is an extra layer of security installed onto computers, which restricts access to systems from the outside world. Firewalls protect against hackers and malicious intruders. I want you to download a free firewall NOW from one of these excellent vendors:

1) ZoneAlarm
2) Agnitum
3) Sunbelt/Kerio
4) Comodo

If you are using the built-in Windows XP firewall, it is not recommended as it does not block outgoing connections. This means that any malware on your computer is free to "phone home" for more instructions. Simply put, Windows XP contains a mediocre firewall. This firewall is NO replacement for a dedicated software solution. Remember to use only one firewall at the same time.

Post a fresh HijackThis log :)

OK, doing that now. The "only" problem I've sometimes had with firewalls is getting the settings right so that it will still allow me to surf the internet. I realize that there are certain settings on them, but oftentimes, it has prevented me from even going to reputable sites.

thanks
