never ending pop ups

Please help me.... I am getting a thousand pop ups from a "messenger service" telling me that my registry is corrupt and to go to like fifty different websites.... I have no idea how to get rid of this, and I just formatted b/c of a different virus.... I have McAfee VirusScan Plus w/ my firewall set to stealth but this is still happening.... I am in extreme need of a little help, thanks....
