Hello there, first post and new to the program.
Must say I like what you're doing with this project. Initially got a bit confused by how the relationship between Spybot Anti-Beacon and Ashampoo AntiSpy Pro works but after digging through the files of both programs I think I understand enough to trust it. Initially I was worried you were simply whitelable-ing Ashampoo's software, but it seems like it's more of a collaboration. If you'd like to elaborate on this more, I would appreciate it.
What initially tipped me off is that you've got the Display Name for the Interceptor Service set to Ashampoo AntiSpy Pro Interceptor somewhere. On my Dutch VM it shows as Ashampoo AntiSpy Pro Interceptor and points to C:\Program Files (x86)\Safer-Networking Ltd\Spybot Anti-Beacon\x64\Spybot3AntiBeaconService.exe but on my English host it is listed as Spybot Anti-Beacon Interceptor and points to C:\Program Files (x86)\Safer-Networking Ltd\Spybot Anti-Beacon\x86\Spybot3AntiBeaconService.exe. Both are Windows 11 64bit systems. Using the same installer.
Anyways. I'd like to suggest adding an option to disable downloading settings with the OneSettings service. It is a service which goes online to Microsoft servers and downloads settings for, among other things, telemetry related stuff. It can cause disabled services and such to be re-enabled, and shares information about the system with Microsoft. CIS recommends this service be disabled with little impact. Microsoft warns that "If you turn off this service, apps using this service may stop working." but in practice I have never heard of this causing problems.
The downloading of settings can be disabled by creating a REG_DWORD named DisableOneSettingsDownloads with value 1 in HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection.
I'm not sure how actively you look at these suggestions. If you appreciate them, I have a lot more suggestions. I'd love to help make the product better.
Kind regards,
San
