Updates -- only lacking SP3
<<< most folks in the know suggest waiting on that update, see the Google:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Service+pack+3+problems&btnG=Google+Search
In your case, it's a catch22, you might benefit from the update...but then again it might make it worse? I was hoping we could have the system stable before considering SP#3
Still having problems accessing internet.. system/applications non responsive. Do you want me to post another HJT log to see where we stand
Have you discussed the internet access issues with your Internet Service Provider? All access isssues are not the fault of malware.

Yes, post a new HJT log and I will take another look. I need as much information as you can provide, expecially any error messages which I must have word for word.

You may have to do a repair install or even a reinstallation of your operating system, but let's look a bit first. One of the first things we need to do is check for corrupt or missing system files, follow these instructions to do that:
http://dwightblackburn.com/winxp/

Thanks

As far as I can see there is nothing in the HJT log that should be causing the issues you are having. I am kind of at a dead end without more information. What exactly happens when you try to access the internet?
system/applications non responsive
I can not think of this occuring without some kind of error message from Windows?

Provide any information you think might help, You might want to see if this computer can access the internet without the router also.

Thanks

IE error some info

szAppName : iexplore.exe szAppVer : 7.0.6000.16674 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

this is what I can copy from the Non responsive error.

the internet just become nonresponsive,,, hangs... freezes..
then once wait for error to end or ust task manager to end.

Then I right click the internet connection... repair. and then I can get other shortcuts to work. mlc.net,,, , ttp://www.ancestry.com/, etc. msn. microsoft, etc. but I have to
I have to repair the internet connection every time

would the router effect only this pc. there are 3 others on it and they are fine. can I take a screen shot and attach to show you the error?

First, we need to get a little organized, this is not something I do a lot (troubleshoot) and I need to get feedback from things I suggest so I will know what I have tired.
I asked you to run System File Checker, was this done and did it help?

Have a look here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/638168-problems-internet-explorer.html
the first message posted is:
szAppName : iexplore.exe szAppVer : 7.0.6000.16512 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000
which is exactly the message you posted. Read the suggestions in this topic, it may be a broswer issue.

Let me know about System File Checker And what happens when you try the suggestions in that link.

My next question, do you have another browser besides Internet Explorer?

Thanks

System File checker

I just found my os disc last night but got busy so I will try and do the file checker tonite... sorry for the delay.. but family calls.. and this is just a machine....

Also contacted ISP and all's well on there end.. they are telling me to check the IExplorer...

all the other pcs behind the modem and router are working aok... Im stumped.

System File check utility

Ran the SYstem File Check utility from the Blackburn site.. Ran with no results.. or I didn't see it.. so I ran it again... Nothing...

Im stumped.. Can you walk me through just creating a new internet connection????

Have the technician at your Internet Service Provider do this for you.
how about unistalling and reinstalling ie 7.. ???
How about trying another browser first? Then you would know it is IE7
I posted a link to the newest Firefox (which I just installed)
