I've been wondering. What are the hidden "Application Data" folders? And what are the results by deleting one of the folders. Eg. I found a Symantec (Norton) folder in the Application data and dragged it to the Recycle Bin.

Certain files/folders are hidden so that people do not delete or mess with them by mistake.
A program should be removed via ADD/REMOVE or the program's own uninstaller.
At that point it is usually safe to remove the folder, if one program was sharing common files with another, it would usually warn during the uninstall.
Norton is notorious for being difficult to remove by the way.
To basically, once you have the program removed, it is safe to delete the folder in the application folder? Eg. McAfee folder in Application (hidden) folder is empty or contains some small sized files when deleted. :fear:
