really basic, dumb question

Assume I know nothing more than how to turn on a computer... I am trying to keep Spybot from protecting me from statcounter, which I am trying to use to track visits to my blog. Spybot keeps eating the blocking cookies, so my visits to my blog (not to mention my posts and all the time I decide to rearrange page elements) are being logged. I contacted the tracking site, and they asked if I had spybot installed... which makes me think that I am not the first one to encounter this issue. They suggested that I try to whitelist it, but I haven't been able to do this. I tried following the directions on the help page, but got nowhere. Can someone with much patience try to help me overcome this problem? Many thanks! Jackie
