Remove unwanted ads

When Spybot searches the system for spyware or adware, I do see names of casino ads, xxx ads during the scanning process. But Spybot never detects these as malicious. How do I get Spybot to remove these items? My system has been acting very weird lately. Internet Explorer does not connect to any sites. Windows media player does not open.

Please advise.

When you see the names of casino ads,etc. flash by next to Running botcheck at the bottom of spybot during a scan,it doesn't mean those things are on your computer,it's just what spybot is checking for.
