My system:
XP PRO sp3
IE-7
ESET NOD antivirus
Pop-up stopper
Cookie Wall
Zone Alarm Free
Lavasoft Adwatch

My problem:
Since installing Spybot 1.6.0.30, when I right click on the spybot icon, "run Spybot S&D" is grayed out and I cannot open the Spybot program to check immunization etc. All the ther functions are there and available.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

Hi. :)
This is the Teatimer icon, down in the notification area/system tray?
Do you have an icon for the main Spybot program on your desktop,or quick launch area?If you doubleclick any of those, will Spybot open?

Hi Zenobia,

I think I've perhaps found the problem. I found a FAQ that said to start Spybot from the all programs menu. The Icon I mentioned is in the system tray. When I tried to start from the all programs menu, I got the message:
"The application has failed to start because sqlite.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." It sounds like I may have gotten a corrupted download. Do you think I can just re-run the install or should I re-download, uninstall and re-install?

Thanks for your help

That is hard to say. To check if the spybotsd160.exe installation program seems to be good or if the download appears corrupted, check the size and the MD5 hash value of program.

The size of the spybotsd160.exe installation program is 15,083,520 Bytes.

Did you download from one of the sites listed here?
To make sure there wasn't a transmission problem, check the MD5 hash of the downloaded spybotsd160.exe installation program as well as the size. Is the MD5 hash value equal to the following?
  • 0E7FBF50F87B3B7C384A2471154A7558
To check the MD5 hash value you can use one of these programs (note: The download for MD5 Checker 2.31 is only 23892 bytes, so if you are having problems downloading that may be the best option):
Also note that there is a another MD5 Checker recommended by PepiMK in post #3 of the following thread:

Thanks guys for the help!
I downloaded and reinstalled. Obviously had a corrupted download the first time. All seems to be working now.
