Russian Business Network Sites

I happened across this web site: http://www.tcmagazine.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2662 that went into detail the threat identity theft sites from the "Russian Business Network" aka RBN pose. I am curious as to why most if not all of the sites listed on the host file at the above web site are not included in Spybot's immunize site list?

i dont have an answer to your question, however there is also other hostsfiles avaliable from other places, but they are more strict in what they block than spybots hostsfile and some of them blocks more sites than spybot. but more isnt always better.

there is also something called spywareblaster that immunize your computer, but that one doesnt place sites in the hostsfile but it does block some sites that spybot doesnt block.

What I can tell you is that no one tool is invincible.

It can be difficult to keep track of malicious sites, since they appear everyday. There are variants of trojans and malware too.

The domains listed in that link are but a drop in the bucket, the RBN is vast and they move around.

Granted that any block list will be outdated the minute it is posted, I still think efforts should be attempted to shut down as many "bad guys" as possible.

Identity theft is the new and current "malware" hot button and there are so many clueless people logging on their respective banking web sites and doing online banking that it scares the heck out of me.

in my opinion spybot blocks to few ad/tracking servers and malicious sites, i mean also sites that has been out there for ages. i use to report such ad/tracking and malicious sites to the inbox in the hphosts forums, and i dont know if it is allowed to report such sites to spybot.
