S&D Removed Internet Security 2011, but still need some help

Using S&D, I've removed a bunch of Malware from a friends system - mostly Internet Security 2011.

I've also installed MS Security Essentials on the system and, according to the security centre, it is running fine.

However, I'm unable to run the GUI for SE, or run Task Manager, and Windows Updates don't seem to work properly (it says updates already in being installed, even though they aren't).

MS SE was added to the registry as a disallow run, but I've removed that.

Anyone got any ideas what else IS2011 may have done to prevent these from being run? (When I try, nothing appears - no errors, no windows, nothing).

Please see this forum's sticky which also includes instructions on posting preliminary DDS logs: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)

Then start a new topic and a volunteer analyst will advise you when available.

If DDS won't run please start a new topic anyway and provide a link back to this thread.
