SB 1.4 Stalls at the of an action

I have W98Se. After fully completing either the Detection Rules download or a Check for Problems scan, SD 1.4 just stops for 5-10 minutes, seemingly frozen. Eventually, it frees up and all is well... till the next scan. It never stops mid-action.

Any way to stop this behavior? Thanks, Larbo
 
Do you cancel Spybots` scan if it seems to freeze? Spybot-S&D may need a bit of time but usually it ends its task even after a period where it seems to freeze up.
How long does the scan last? Please give additional infos on your system and the version of Spybot-S&D.
After downloading the detection rules or after a scan in version 1.4 Spybot-S&D creates a system restore point per default. This can take some time.

You could try out if you switch off the "create system restore point" option in Spybot-S&D. Go to "settings" -> "settings" -> "main settings".
