Screen Freeze with Vista

I keep getting a screen-freeze intermittently,I've scanned with
Spybot,Avast,Malwarebytes, with nothing but cookies turned up.
Don't know what else to do.

Is there a specific reason you suspect a malware infection rather than a software/ hardware problem?
