Oh yes, I meant to tell you and forgot that I was running the Hyper scan, b/c the scan on your screenshot wasn't available (Pro?). Anyway now it's all clear - right?

So far no problem, will let you know over the next couple of days if it hangs again.

And the computer seems a bit faster, snappier. But maybe that's psychological?

This is why for what I do OTL is one of my tools of choice, if you look back over the fix logs, we had it clean out all your temp files and sometime a big buildup of those can slow a system down, it also reset your hosts file which sometimes can get clogged up. Lets keep an eye on this this one and post back in a few days and let me know how its going.

OTL is written by a malware fighter like me named OldTimer and he has some other tools that are really nice, you can use this one , run it maybe a few times a month and it will clean all those temp files out, I didn't need you to use it because I knew we where going to run a fix with OTL

Download TFC to your desktop
  • Close any open windows.
  • Double click the TFC icon to run the program
  • TFC will close all open programs itself in order to run,
  • Click the Start button to begin the process.
  • Allow TFC to run uninterrupted.
  • The program should not take long to finish it's job
  • Once its finished it should automatically reboot your machine,
  • if it doesn't, manually reboot to ensure a complete clean

Good morning Ken,

I just ran TFC. Computer definitely snappier. Same improvement will be great on Third Computer (if you're still up for it) b/c that's the oldest computer, kind of slow, etc.

Btw thanks to recommend running TFC once in a while (TFC and not OTL, right?) I've been using up to now things like CCCleaner, Glary Utility, which you don't seem to recommend.

And FF still hangs: once yesterday and once today. I have to close it, and can't start it again b/c of msg: It's Already Running, so I have to kill the process. But I'm not sure it's malware... Seems more like maybe I click on 2 links at once... ?

Yes, just use TFC by Oldtimer

As far as FF, have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, if so try this

  • Open Firefox
  • Go to Help
  • Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Lets try and get this settled and then you can post for computer # 3

Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled FF to 29.0.1, restarted w/add-ons disabled, but then it asks safe mode or reset, I chose reset.

Let's see if it hangs again over the next 24-48 hours...

Just got the problem again, without doing anything special: just clicking on a link in an existing window... The exact message after closing FF (since FF was just hanging non-stop) is "ff is already running, but it is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." Actually this time for the 1st time the process was listed twice, had to close them one by one.

There is a mozilla forum(s) about that message, but it's about getting that message when starting FF, not about it hanging before closing and then getting the message.

You know, I was a FF faithful for many years but but migrated over to Chome about 2 years ago and loving it. The other day I downloaded and installed FF 29 and I really am not that impressed.

So I think what I would do is just keep posting in the FF forum and see if there is a solution and if not just uninstall FF and be done with it. The reason I am saying this is there are many forums for computer problems and this one is just for Malware Removal.

So keep checking for a solutions on the FF forum, in the meantime I will close this thread maybe tomorrow and then your can post about Computer # 3

OK, I will be gone for few hours , if no one else has taken it than I will when i return
