Secure Shredder hangs PC

Morning, downloaded the new version of spybot the pc now hangs when attempting to grab the temp file folder for IE. Uses 100% of CPU. I've uninstalled and moved back to vesion 1.52 but am still have the same problem.

XP SP3, IE 6.x 3 gig ram.

Note that it has no problem with the other selections from the template.... opera, firefox, cookies, windows temp folder just the IE cache files? Odd to say the least. Here are two events one with the 1.52 version the second one is from the 1.6 version of spybot.

you might....

be choosing to high of a "sweep" number. 6 is the recommended, any higher might cause the program to freeze when cleaning and overwriting a long set of files. such as a huge temp folder. Make sure you use ether the recommended 6 or lower to overwrite.

The lock comes when clicking to select the CACHE files. Not the actual shred? This worked just fine until the install of the new version. :rolleyes:
 
oh...ok

I understand now. Maybe it is possible you have way to many temp files? haha. With so many, it might cause the program to lock when it goes to give a list of the temp files....try using disk cleanup, and then after that, browse some web pages, and see if then it works correctly. :)

I think the new version shredder has a problem . I'm seeing the same thing on a ME pc . Don't like the new shredder either . Had a lot of trouble with 1.6 so I have uninstalled 1.6 and reinstalled 1.5.2 and it seems to be much better and more stable and it has the old shredder which is a lot easier to use. :police:
 
Ah but 1.52 is having the same problem

Yes, I did the same but the old version now hands on the same selection. Something else must have changed. I was hoping that one of the developers could look at the event code for an answer. Let's hope that happens.
