I tried to shred a dll that would not delete. When I use shredder it replaces that file with a new file named with random letters. How do I really shred these stuck DLLs?

boleyd:

You can not delete (or shread) a dll file that is in use.

One way to find out what process is using the dll:
  • Download Process Explorer from the following Web page:
  • Extract the downloaded ProcessExplorer.zip file.
  • Execute procexp.exe.
  • After Process Explorer starts, in the Find menu select Find Handle or DLL.
  • Type the name of the dll in the Handle or DLL Substring entry area and press enter.
