Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888 (and many others...)

Ok, here's what happened:

I removed the hidden status and located the Temp folder. When I opened it there were many other folders and files. Before I could delete these objects I started to get AVG Threat Alerts for Generic4.OUN, one after another. Each time it let me Heal them. The objects were:

gdhnasat.dll
akxuktie.dll
tabvimak.dll
wkherbwm.dll
wdiqpcrb.dll
vuyskrut.dll

Every time I would Heal one, another Alert would appear. So I just clicked Select All and pressed Delete. A message did appear saying one file was a system file and did I want to delete it? I said Yes to All (to hell with it!). Everything was deleted except a file called ~DF583.tmp I scanned this file with AVG Anti-Virus and AVG Anti-Spyware and it was clean.

I will continue testing and scanning. Is there anything else you suggest at this point? :)

Kaspersky scan was clean, as were scans using my resident tools:
  • AVG Anti-Virus
  • AVG Anti-Spyware
  • Spybot S&D
  • Ad-Aware

Just 2 tracking cookies were found.

Nothing strange has happened and there have been no threat alerts.

I've been quite busy recently and haven't used to PC too much, so I would like to test some more up until the weekend, when hopefully I can be sure that its clean and can officially sign off:)

Everything was looking good - no threat alerts, no problems, Kasperskys scan fine. However, my latest AVG Anti-Virus scan found Trojan Horse 'SHeur.JH'
in C:\Documents and Settings\Amy\My Documents\Google_Updater.exe
AVG deleted it.

All is looking better now. I re-ran AVG Anti-Virus this morning and it was clean. As were Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware scans. AVG Anti-Spyware found and deleted 8 tracking cookies.

In view of this, when do you want to close the thread if no further problems are found?

I know you are busy and I don't want to take any more of your time than is necessary, but I would like a little longer to be sure the machine is clean...
