Smitfraud-C Toolbar888 and Virtumonde

Popups keep popping up and my Norton's autoprotect is disabled and I am unable to turn it back on. Spybot can clean everything except for the Virtumonde after running it in safemode.

Hi

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Hi

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
Copy&Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ljjiihi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlk.dll
Click Add Files and Click Close Window
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

It seems to be getting better, my norton will now start off with its autoprotect on, and then after a few minutes get automatically disabled. Another thing, should my spybot resident be on while I'm running the vundo fix? I fear that its blocking the deletion of certain registry values the vundofix is trying to delete.

Its looking good better. Though norton still gets disabled and I don't think the Resident thing actually disabled after unchecking and rebooting, it still popsup when a value is deleted.

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Reboot.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

o Scan Options:

+ Scan Archives
+ Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Hi

"I tried deleting those entries twice, came back on every reboot, so yeah I did attempt to follow your instructions."

That's because of TeaTimer is active, it prevents those to leave. Keep it disabled until you're clean. And after that, fix those entries again.

Empty these folders:

C:\QooBox\Quarantine\
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery
C:\VundoFix Backups\

Delete this:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\unbsayxw.exe

Empty Recycle Bin

Re-scan with kaspersky

I've run HJT twice in safe mode with teatimer out, and it turned up clean then. I have no clue why those BHOs are still there.

Well if those BHOs are still there, easiest way is to uninstall/re-install spybot, it'll help for sure.

Thanks for all your help so far, but my norton auto-protect still disables after like 2 minutes (though the time it stays has increased). I don't know whether or not its a result of residual spyware or if I should just uninstall and reinstall my norton. Also my windows security center still remains disabled upon startup (could be my norton's fault). And that last Kaspersky scan picked up an awful lot of traces, should I be doing something about that?
