hi, i was wondering if someone could help.

I receive the above error when trying to retrieve updates. Anyone know how to resolve this?

Hello.
Do you have a firewall installed and if so have you authorized SpybotSD.exe to access the internet?

If you sitting behind a proxy server:
Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced mode > Settings > Settings. About 2/3 of the way down the option tree there is a category "Web update". Check the last item in the list "Use proxy to connect to update server". A pop-up will come up where you can enter the information required.

If you have a firewall:
Reauthorize SpybotSD.exe to access the internet within your firewall. If you have a firewall and are not sure if that is the cause of the problem, you could (for a short period) disable the firewall and see if the updates work properly.

same problem

i tried the settings thing and turning off my firewall and it still won't work. I've restarted the computer which is also brand new. And also i'm on the internet but i can't connect to servers or networks like the itunes music store, or some video games. I don't know if its the same problem thats preventing me from doing all these things. But what should i do?
