Spy Bot 1.6.0.30 Not Starting

Can anyone here suggest what the problem here could be. I have downloaded Spy-Bot 1.6.0.30 after uninstalling the last application as that would not start either.
I have spy-bot on the desk top and everytime i click it the programme does not open. Even if i right click and click open it still does not run. The teatimer sat on the task bar seems to be working but not spy-bot programme clicking twice from desk top. This a first never encountered this before on Spy-Bot. Could it be malware that is preventing it? I have run all the trusted ant-i -spywareapplications and all show computer as clen.

Hi yawroc,

:welcome: to Safer Networking Forums. :)

Please uninstall Spybot 1.6.0.30 completely from your computer.

After that, download Spybot 1.6.2 from here and try to install it. If it doesn't work, rename the installation file to yawroc.exe

If it still doesn't work, start your computer in safe mode and try to install it there.

Which other Anti-Malware tools did you already run?

Do you have Signs of Malware ?

Are you logged in as administrator ? What is your operating system?

Which other security tools do you have installed onto your computer?

Thankyou for your reply. Yes for starters there is one thing that is happening I am finding that say i do a google search for something specific i then get directed to a page i did not request this is also happening on IE8. I did run an SDfix scan in safe mode and this came up with no malware found in pc. I do have HiJack this installed but really going through the detailed printout there was nothing in there that looked obvious to me. I did have Lavasoft adaware installed as well as having PC Guard and the PC Guard anti spyware installed.
All other security programmes have been removed as was a programme called stop. I will do exactly what you have suggested. Thankyou once again.:bigthumb:

thank you for this update.

Please do not run fixes until an expert has told you so!

If you get directed to another site, Malware could be the reason. :sad:

Try to run Spybot, if it doesn't work, that is my recommendation for you. ;)

No sorry despite all you have suggested i tried all and still spy-bot will not start clicked on the icon the hour glass appears but the programme fails to start.
I will prepare a hijack this report and post it where suggested.
