Spybot 1.5.1.15 won't finish a search.

The most current edition of Spybot: Search and destroy has stopped being able to finish a search while at the start of it. If I leave it to run by itself, or have it up on the screen, it just stops in mid-search, and says the user aborted. I can't do anything with it, and I have to restart the search. Can someone help?

I don't recall this happening recently, however in the past the fix for spontaneous user aborts was to uninstall including using this very small fix from the following Web page and then to reinstall:

To use this very small fix:

• Download the file and save to a known location.
• Double click on it.
• Answer "Yes" then "OK" when prompted.

The very small fix appears to not be saving, instead opening as an HTML document (like a link). Is this how it's supposed to be (probably not, but you can never tell, especially after using ProExp...), or is it screwing up on your end?

The link seems to work for me. Are you doing a save on the file?

Right click on link and select "Save target as...".

Hello,

On our website please right-click the 'very small fix'-link and choose 'Save as'.
The small fix will be downloaded then. Now you can execute it with a double click on its symbol.
If this does not work, you can right click the small fix download and choose 'Merge'.
Now all entries that belong to Spybot - Search & Destroy will be deleted from the registry.
