Spybot Anti-Beacon for Windows 10

Anti-Beacon 2.1 "cannot install files to 64bit locations on this version of Windows"

I guess this failure to install is connected with this inherited PC I have which is a 64 bit AMD CPU but it's running Windows 10 32bit? Screenshot (49).jpg
 
SpyBot AntiBeacon 2.1!

This is a puzzle.

It says version 2.1 but when I installed in on my Win 8.1 Toshiba I found that it is really a new program = it saved the files in Program Files\Safer-Networking Ltd\SpyBot AntiBeacon\ and left all the old programs in Program Files (x86)\SpyBot AntiBeacon\. So now I have to uninstall the old version. The version of the new file is 3.0.1.72!

Then I looked in the taskschd.msc and I found that the action had been changed to a program that didn't exist C:\Program Files\SpyBot AntiBeacon\SDAntiBeacon.exe

So my last question is - has the option to run on startup been moved somewhere else or will it never run?

SpyBot AntiBeacon 2.1!

Found another issue with 2.1

When you uninstall the process is not stopped... and several files are left in place.
SpyBot3AntiBeacon64.exe and the x64 dll files

The workaround is to install it on an another Windows installation (eg. my 64bit Window 7 laptop) and copy the resulting "Safer Networking Ltd" folder from Program Files to the Windows 10 equivalent. And it works.

Doesn't set it to run on Start Up mind you, but that's easily solved.
 
I'm trying to install vrsion 2.1 on W7 32bit but when clicking on last button (Install) I got this msg:

Internal error: cannot install files to 64-bit locations on this version of windows

Easy enough to get the program to launch at start up, but what about it immunizing at start up in the background?

Seems they assumed every computer out there is 64bit, and didn't account for the large number of 32bit still out there (including windows 10).....big mistake.
 
Manual re immunizing

Why do I have to keep clicking on 'immunize' in the options tab, for several items, every time I open spybot antibeacon?
One Drive, Office 15 and Office 16 especially.
They either revert to no immunization applied, or half applied. How can I make it always automatic?

Did you update to Version 2.2? What Windows 10 are you using?
I see any of my individual settings being kept, even after reboot.
 
AccessViolation

"EAccessViolation: AccessViolation" error will be displayed when exiting Anti-beacon2.2.
Please tell me if there is any countermeasure.

Well this just gets messier and messier...

I found that when I installed SpyBot Anti-Beacon 2.2 it did have a different version number, in a different folder! I found both the 64 bit and 32 bit programs in Program Files (x86). So now I have, in the uninstall UI, both SpyBot Anti-Beacon 2.1 AND 2.2. But wait, in the registry I find in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{419A7FCF-474D-BFE9-987CF3F90C88}_is1 the information to uninstall version 2.1.... what will it do if I try to uninstall 2.2 which also seems to be installed in the computer?

I was also intrigued to see that in the scheduled tasks for uninstall was a scheduledtask, which I have been unable to locate.

Why is the setup program still 2.2 when the version information in the program is now 3.0.2.82?

I submitted a support ticket for the 32-bit "Internal error: cannot install files to 64-bit locations on this version of windows" error.

2 1/2 weeks later, no answer.

I'm guessing 32bit was dropped.
 
FYI, the 32-bit "Internal error: cannot install files to 64-bit locations on this version of windows" error has been resolved in ver 2.2

What is the situation with SpyBot AntiBeacon? Is there a free version, an entry version still or do we have to pay for it?
On this page https://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php There is no version beyond version 2.2.

If I click on Download I get the download with no request for payment of money but there seems to a need to pay something.. The version downloaded is 3.0 but it doesn't install, it seems to crash because version 2.2 is running - surely it should be able to cope with that?

If I go to https://www.safer-networking.org/products/spybot-anti-beacon/version-history/

Finally a changelog ... but here I see a version 2.3 and the current version is 3.0.5...

Looking forward to hearing what is happening...
