Hello,

I've installed Spybot (last version, last updates) on a fresh installed Windows XP.

Even if I think the system is clean (because I've installed Spybot just after XP and before surfing on the net) I tried to scan it.

During scan, Spybot freeze and I must kill his process.

Can anyone help me ?

Thanks a lot :)

HyperThreading Technology has caused Spybot to hang on some systems. If your system has HyperThreading Technology, try running Spybot on one CPU as follows to see if that is the cause of Spybot hanging:
  • Open Spybot, then leave it alone
  • Open Task Manager, and go to the Processes tab
  • Right-click on SpybotSD.exe, and choose "Set Affinity..."
  • On the box that comes up, check/uncheck boxes so that ONLY "CPU 0" is checked.
  • Go back to the already-open Spybot, and run a scan.
Hopefully Spybot will complete without hanging or losing responsiveness.

You're right, this computer is based on PIV with Hyperthreading.

I'm going to try to run Spybot on one processor only tonight and I'll post here results.

Thanks for your help

I've tried it. All works fine now.

Thanks a lot

(Sorry for this multipost, can an Admin del it ?)
