Spybot keeps freezing on my laptop

Whenever I load Spybot S&D, it asks me if it can help back up...
what is back up?
and when i click yes, it freezes
and all it says is, "please wait a few minutes"
any ideas?

Does it refer to the "registry" when backing up? I'm asking because when you first successfully install Spybot-Search&Destroy, one of those prompts (tutorials) will ask you to update, immunize, and backup (resembles the 'backup' prompt you were referring to).
