Spybot says it's destroyed malware, but it keeps coming back

I am trying to get rid of 'DEEP DIVE' and 'SMITFRAUD'. I have followed the instruction in the 'before you post' post but I cannot go past step number one as safe mode doesn't work.

You have old Smitfraudfix running on your computer, you need to delete it and download it fresh from the link I provide. As close as I can see it may be running from Temporary Internet Files. That being the case, just delete the complete contents of that folder highlited in red.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Thank you again for all your help. I was not aware that I was running 2 antivirus programs. As far as I knew, our old program was uninstalled when we installed AVG. I cannot find any other in the add/remove program facility to uninstal. I did find a C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ folder but was unable to delete it as it says it is protected... I am not sure what to do next.
 
I can provide you with a tool Symantec says will remove stuuf that their uninstallers do not (and should) remove, but I do not use Symantec and you will be using their tool at your own risk.

Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log.

We have a little more work to do to get you clean, follow these directions. I have a tendency to check several ways for malware items, I am just trying to be sure you are clean.

Remove Smitfraudfix completely from your computer, the program does not update so it would need to be downloaded new if ever needed again. Keep in mind, it is safe to use only for the infection it is designed to remove.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Boonty Games and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\BOONTY Shared\ <<< delete that folder

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart your computer and run a new Kaspersky scan and post the results along with a new HJT log.

I'm sorry, I still can't find the above
 
1) malware may have hidden the files:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.
