Spybot-Search & Destroy has stopped working

Hi, my searches in Firefox using Google or yahoo are being hijacked and I keep getting redirected to somewhere where I do not want to be. I am using:

Windows Vista Home basic service pack one.
Firefox/3.0.11
Spyware Doctor 6.0.1.441 (Registered)

I downloaded and installed Spybot but it will not run. I uninstalled it and disabled my firewall and Spyware Doctor and reinstalled Spybot but it still would not run. When I click the Spybot search & destroy icon to start it I get a windows box come up that says:

Spybot-Search & Destroy has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I would be grateful for any help.

I am having the same problem using Windows XP. Google and windows explorer v7 are being hijacked, some website such as Spybot and Safer-Networking are blocked & Spybot won't load. I don't get any error messages. It happened all at at once when I had the misfortune to visit a bogus chinese website.
I'm sure it's malware, but I can't find it. Norton can't find it. This thing is driving me nuts !!! does anyone have any suggestions on how to find and delete this bug ??

Zenobia thanks for the links. Followed the instructions and got SS&D to load and scan. killed what needed killing and SS&D now loads from my desktop. My system is now clean and immunized thanks to efforts of the SS&D people. I will make a donation, worth every penny. You would not get this kind of support from software suppliers that cost you money. :thanks::bigthumb:
