Spybot taking a very long time to check for problems

I have Spybot 1.4, when I ask spybot to check for problems and run a spybot check it can take up to 2 - 3 hours to go from start to finish. Is there I can do to speed up the process, would it help if I upgraded to Spybot 1.5? or is there something wrong with my PC?

Please post the operating system and how much RAM you have. Do you have problems with any other programs or general slow loading. By PC I take it this is a desktop, and not a laptop?
