Windows shutting down unexpectedly
Hi Mr. Daleyras,
Sorry it has taken so long to post. Thank you for showing me how to disable Norton!
1. I was unable to use Flash_disinfector for my ext. HD. But I'm very certain it didn't have any viruses because I bought it and hooked it up right after reinstalling windows (my computer has the capability of restoring itself to factory settings). I also only used it for a short period of time after which I unplugged it from the computer. So I plugged the HD in and scanned it with Norton instead. It didn't find anything wrong. then I scanned the whole system, including the Ext. HD with ESET as you suggested. That didn't find anything at all. So I think I'm safe there.
2. I got the full version of Online-Armor firewall working today. But I don't know much about using the different features. How can I learn?
3. I'd like to find a way to send you my Norton history, so I could show you the time it said it deleted a dangerous virus, but that it may still need a professional to get rid of it. All I need to do is be able to open the .mcf files it exports. Is there a safe way to do that? I will keep trying to open it.
4. When I close all the programs it still says one program is running. What could be running?
5. Windows has shut down unexpectedly 3 times. Always shortly after installing a program. I think, winPatrol was one, ESET another and Online-Armor the latest. Could I not have enough memory? The error message said driver(s) were the problem.
6. I got the 2X1GB memory chips today. Should I go ahead and inert them?
Thank you for all your help. I know it seems as if my lists keep growing, but I think we've made some serious progress.
Take care,
Coneshell
