Tree listing inside device manager console expands and contracts,expands and contract

Hi healing41,

device manager acts the same either acct. and i cant call cmd as admin either
cmd doesnt come back as a search in admin acct. and search doesnt even recognize the word cmd

Try typing the entire word "command" or "command prompt", then follow the previous directions.

if i start in safe mode i can access device manager. i saw the network adapter (pcie family controller) section was open bforehand. if i uninstall it will it reinstall on reboot automatically therby fixing?

I don't think you want to uninstall it. What I think you mean is you want to reset it. Go here >> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-network-adapter-problems#1TC=windows-7 expand the drop down menu next to "Reset the network adapter" and follow this instructions provided.

Go here and scroll down to Method #1 and try and access the command prompt.
